Where Have All the Cowboys Gone?
Karl Rove has resigned. Far be it from me to pass judgment, we'll let history take care of that dirty work.

And as if today could get any more awesome...in Estonia, a blind man was caught drunk driving for the SECOND TIME today. The man had 3 passengers in his car giving him direction at the time of his arrest. God Bless Estonia, wherever it may be.*

Who called the GTB negative? Not today! Today is a great day! August 31st will be even better.
Granted, much of the damage is already done, but better late than never.

Favorite Rovement: In June 2005, Rove said, "Conservatives saw the savagery of 9/11 in the attacks and prepared for war; liberals saw the savagery of the 9/11 attacks and wanted to prepare indictments and offer therapy and understanding for our attackers."
Wasn't afraid to tell the truth in the face of constant whining of the "take that back" crowd.

Too bad the war was engaged with the wrong enemy. Last I checked, that was established as fact. Saddam did not engage in the planning or execution of the events of 9/11. Not to mention the fact that we did not "prepare for war", we went to war. If we were prepared, we wouldn't be in the predicament we're in at the moment.

You are correct Anon...that guy was super at politicizing tragedy. Maybe if we took a little bit of time to think about WHY they want to kill us we could come up with a better idea of how to stop them.
“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not your enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.” - Sun Tzu, The Art of War

Just because Rove said that about liberals doesn't make it true.
The way I see it, conservatives saw the savagery of 9/11 and started wars (plural) that have done nothing but create more terrorists, take the lives of innocent civilians and American patriots. There's no question that Saddam was a bad guy who did horrible things, but as Lulu points out, he didn't do 9/11. Those guys are still out there.

Ok, so apparently fighting Al Qaeda in Iraq is wrong while fighting al Qaeda in Afghanistan is right. Al Qaeda in Iraq was born in sin because it supposedly "didn't exist before our invasion." Al Qaeda in Central Asia a cleaner pedigree, traceable directly to Osama bin Laden. But what in the world do the circumstances of birth have to do with counterterrorism? A terrorist is a terrorist.

Yes, born in sin. Our sin. It came into being because we invaded. Anyone from that part of the world could tell you that bin Laden and Saddam were enemies. One is a fundamentalist crazy and one a secularist crazy $mdash; oil and vinegar. Saddam, as bad as he was, kept terrorists out of his borders. Bin Laden had wanted an inroad to Iraq and Bush gave it to him. Too bad we didn't bother to ask anyone before we invaded.

I still question the validity of waging (a front of) the war on terror in Iraq when Al Qaeda in Iraq didn't exist when we went to war.
The ends don't always justify the means.
